A Tip on Teaching Vocabulary

When you work on reading comprehension tasks, encourage students to look up words on their own. In that way, you will help them to develop their dictionary-use skills as well as to go on learning autonomously. Ask them to write the new words on strips of paper and sort them into different boxes or envelopes labeled difficult words, funny words, words I like. You can use them to ask students to read them aloud, to make sentences  or to spell them as a warm-up activity or as an end of class activity. Little by little, they will remove some of these words from the difficult words container.
