I'm proud and honoured to receive this relevant international award.

I have always considered education as a valuable tool to empower individuals. This acknowledgement has reinforced my perspective.

I consider that small deeds can bring about great changes. I will go on doing small things to improve achievements in my followers.

Online Training Camp 7 (OTC7)

Yesterday morning I had the pleassure to lead a workshop for the OTC 7 organized by Educationists of Pakistan and Global. I spoke about the Role of AI in Education. 

The organization was impeccable and I had the opportunity to share information and ideas as regards how to implement the use of AI in education.

The audience was responsive and showed great interest in participating.

ASPI PRACTICAL ISSUES 2025

 On August 23rd we had the traditional ASPI event.

This year, as on many other ocassions, I had the honour to be one of the speakers together with Viviana Regodesebes and Abigail Cernotto.

The President of ASPI, Andrea Gaitan, opened the event and introduced the first speaker, Viviana Regodesebes, who showed us how she prepared a revision session for her students at the Teaching Education Programme using "Genially" to device a "Scape Room" game.

I hope many teachers take the idea to make their lessons more fun while still demanding.

After a short break, Abigail Cernotto presented her perspective as regards teaching adults and how she tries AI to build confidence in her adult students.

There was an interesting exchange of points of view.

After the coffee break, I worked with an enthusiastic audience on trying ways of raising students awareness as regards the benefits and risks we face when using AI. I also emphasized the importance of teaching our students the efficient, effective and ethical use of AI.

A bit of theory introduced tasks which kept the audience busy. From time to time, we also laughed a bit.

I thank dearfully this marvellous audience for their active participation in the tasks. A workshop is  successful only if the participants engage in sharing their ideas.

There was full house and the event finished with raffles to give out books, dictionaries and teaching material offered by publishing houses and bookshops.

One of the things I value the most about these events, together with the possibility of getting envolved in Professional Development, is the chance we have to meet colleagues, many of whom are former students, and feel their passion for teaching.

Thanks ASPI for this invitation to enjoy the love of teaching once more.

My Presentation at the International Event in Georgia

 Last Thursday, I had the honour of being a guest speaker at the International Conference organized by the  Teachers Community Georgia.

It is a real pleasure to see how this teachers community work hard to keep up their professional development. The audience was absolutely respectful and showed great interest in the presentations.

WORKSHOP AT EMBA SAN JUSTO, SANTA FE

 On June 6th I ran a workshop at EMBA (Municipal School of Fine Arts) in San Justo, Santa Fe Province.

Authorities gave me a warm welcome and Luisina Montegrosso and Mariela Avico, my former students at the Teaching Education Programme and now my colleagues, made great hosts.

The audience participated enthusiastically in the activities and we spent a good time together.

At the end of the workshop, the hosts gave me a certificate issued by the Municipal Mayor, Arq. Nicolás Cuesta, and the Education Coordinator, Mgter. Mónica Astore. In this certificate they acknowledged my contribution to education in the frame of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainability Goals since San Justo Government adheres to UNESCO’s Sustainability Development Goals included in UN 2030 Agenda.

The hosts gave me a present in the name of EMBA. It was a notebook made of recycled materials. Another sample of how they care for sustainability.

Thanks for the experience. It has been actually rewarding and enriching for me.

ASPI Practical Issues

 Last Friday I had the pleasure of leading one of the four workshops organised by ASPI (Santafesinian English Teachers' Association). It was a double pleasure because we were celebrating the 50th Anniversary of our association and we also rendered homage to Daniel Fernandez Phd. He was my classmate at the Teacher Education Programme, my teacher at the Linguistics BA and my colleague at tertiary level and university education programmes. He was also my mentor when I started writing for famous publishing houses.

It was really wonderful to meet my former students, now colleagues, in this professional development workshop.

Practical Issues in ELT 10th Anniversary

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Practical Issues in ELT, traditionally organised  by ASPI, we met at the FCE of UNL to share experiences and grow together with colleagues and teachers-to-be.

ASPI Committee gave Prof. Elsa Grimaldi the Honorable Membership Award, acknowledging all her contributions to the association. She thanked and shared many anecdotes which dated from the beginnings of ASPI.

As usual, we had morning and afternoon sessions

The first presentation,by myself,  was on planning. "A goal without a plan is just a wish. (or What plans are for?) .

We discussed the value of planning and how the way we plan impacts on our teaching, and on our students' response and growth.

Second presentation, by Lic. Ma. Cristina Rivas, was on "The state Secondary school: a brave and determined teacher is unbreakable".
Many issues on everyday classroom life were tackled by professor Rivas.

In the afternoon, Mgt. Ana Marina Suarez Gianello presented "The song of lunch (a menu for teachers)
Once more, she shared interesting teaching ideas to help learners approach literature in a very enriching teaching / learning experience. She also introduced ideas to cater for learners' different levels of proficiency.

Closing the event, Lic Adriana Díaz presented "Tackling difficulties in consonant pronunciation". Some issues on overcoming pronunciation difficulties were considered.

By the end of the day, we could celebrate after having shared great moments with wonderful people.

Thanks to the great ASPI team for their enthusiasm and collaboration. That is the way to succeed!

"A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish"* (or What Plans are for)

Plans come in all sizes and shapes and quite often we question the actual use they have.  Nevertheless, we have the feeling that our students perceive the presence or absence of a plan when we stand in front of the classroom. Our professionalism and commitment is made evident when we take the role we choose and enhance our students’ participation knowing where to go and how to achieve our aim.

In our session we will go about different questions about planning in search of regaining strength and will to face this “ill-reputed” task with enthusiasm and innovative ideas.

A New Education Paradigm?

Different scientific views of reality have always influenced society and, at a similar pace, the way education was seen by experts and practitioners. We have seen the development of various teaching methods (which were expected to be followed “to the letter”). Later, approaches developed along with the perception teachers had of their own professional development and of the learners they had to educate. At the end of the 20^th century and beginning of the 21^st, the Post-method Era became an issue of great interest for educators. At this moment, educators are facing the challenge of a world which is in permanent flux due to technological and scientific advances. Because of these changes, society is also undergoing a deep crisis in their traditional institutions. Should we start discussing education goals? Should we re-think how to approach knowledge ourselves and how to help our students to get engaged in this enterprise? If this is the case, we might be facing a change in present education paradigms.

I try to make a retrospective review of teaching methods to end up reflecting upon the challenges this new era presents for both teachers and learners.

My intention is to put forward my view of learning needs in present times.

Since we cannot teach contents that might soon become outdated, it is more important to teach our learners to discern between relevant and irrelevant information. It is also important to equip them with emotional tools that guarantee their free choice no matter which context they take part in.
