Can you
identify what these photos show?
I’m almost
sure many of you can. For those who can’t, let me tell you that these are photos
of the Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family designed by Gaudi. It
is in Barcelona and it is a World Heritage Site included in UNESCO’s records.
The three
photos show the same building, but seen from a different perspective. If we
took for granted that the description of only one of the photographers defines
what the building is like, we would miss a great part of what makes this
building so famous and important. To have a full view of what it is like, we
need to perceive all the perspectives.
The same
happens with other facts in life. Reality is always filtered by individual
perspectives. We perceive and understand reality influenced by our previous
experiences. This is the reason why we need to collect as much information as
possible about the fact in question. If we share our view with those of others,
we a likely to have a better understanding of what actually happens. And we are
likely to widen our conceptual frame.
