Adriana Díaz and I travelled to Córdoba to participate of this interesting meeting of "Phonology freaks".
We had the opportunity of sharing experiences and learning about other phoneticians' researches.
We are proud to say that we have confirmed that we are quite updated and we are focusing the teaching of pronunciation from all possible perspectives.
Adriana presented her work on Cognitive Phonology, starting the interest of many people in the audience.
Then, she presented the Cartoon Show done by students in the third course. Congrats! I was an enlightening presentation and I bet the experience will be replicated by more than one teacher.
An people from San Justo, having been students at Brown, found it easy to identify the characters. (You can't deny that I had a wonderful smile! ;- D)
I also had the opportunity of giving my opinion about what we need to teach our students to help them produce intelligible English. We need to share some rules of pronunciation in order to be able to communicate.
The audience seemed to be interested in the topic.
We also had the pleasure of sharing some workshops with Professor Michael Ashby, my former teacher at UCL.
With his habitual friendly way, he helped us brush up our concepts and tested our ears. And we've confirmed that we are NOT deaf!!!
